But back to the real subject of the night, the biggest Oscar winner- in terms of grand total awards goes to Mad Max: Fury Road as they took home 6 trophies!
Snagging awards for best costume design, film editing, makeup and hairstyling, production design, sound editing, and sound mixing, I think we can say, they had a very spectacular night!
While there were some unexpected wins, many predictions turned out to be true.
Alicia Vikander won Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her work in The Danish Girl. LOVE HER.
I think we can all agree that this girl is going places in her career, that’s for sure. And Mark Rylance won for Best Supporting Actor in Bridge of Spies.
Under the music category winning best original song was of course, none other than Sam Smith’s “Writing on the Wall,” from Spectre. Just as powerful as the movie itself, he also performed the song on stage. Take a look!
Well, we wouldn’t have amazing movies without the people behind the scenes. The winners for best writing in an original screenplay went to Josh Singer and Tom McCarthy for Spotlight. And The Revenant scored big for best Cinematography and best Directing.
Plus, winning top spot for best animated feature film went to, my personal fav, Inside Out!
Best Actress in a Leading Role went to our girl, Brie Larson for portraying a woman held captive for years with her son in the movie Room. This was Brie’s first win, beating out other extremely talented actresses like Cate Blanchett, Jennifer Lawrence, Charlotte Rampling, and Saoirse Ronan.
Moving on to the moment everyone was waiting for, best actor in a leading role went to Leonardo DiCaprio! Whoo! Go Leo!
Bringing home the gold…literally the gold trophy… for his work in Revenant, he received a standing ovation from the crowd.
This was Leo’s first win after a total of 6 nominations under his belt.
And last but not least,
With a star-studded cast, Spotlight follows a team of investigative journalists at The Boston Globe and Michael Rezendes, Mark Ruffalo’s character in the movie, was actually in attendance during the show!
A-MAZING! Overall, the night was a success and definitely one to remember. Now it’s YOUR turn! Did anyone win that you weren’t expecting? Or did your predictions come true? Let us know in the comments below!
